✨ Please note: the visible line in this cabochon is not a fracture. It’s a natural layering within the stone itself, fully enclosed and smooth to the touch. These layers formed as minerals settled over time, creating subtle transitions that add depth and character without affecting the durability of the piece.
BC Ocean Stone is a semi-precious, silica-based chalcedony/jasper from a single inland deposit near Midway, British Columbia. It formed through hydrothermal silica infiltration, where silica-rich fluids gradually replaced ancient sedimentary rock over millions of years. This process created dense microcrystalline quartz with scenic “ocean-like” zoning, banding, and brecciation.
Collected in small veins at the historic Picture Rock area, this is a boutique material found in limited quantities by small-scale miners and rockhounds •• never in vast commercial mines. Each cabochon is like a miniature shoreline 🩵 fleeting, rare, and unforgettable.
